Giving Tuesday!

It’s that time of year when we all remember that–even though 2017 has felt like a really awful year–many of us have a lot to be thankful for. When planning your gifts for Giving Tuesday, I hope you will think about Stop Handgun Violence and the 33,000 lives that are taken by preventable gun violence each year.

In the words of Emily Dickinson:

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –

This has been a difficult year to work in gun violence prevention. We hear about one mass shooting after another, but it seems like the will to fight for peace is gone from Washington. It’s easy to feel hopeless, but I promise you that hope for change is alive in Massachusetts and in communities across America. That’s why we are thankful for YOU this holiday season.

Thanks to donations from supporters like you, Stop Handgun Violence has educated and engaged about gun safety with more people than ever.

► You kept our billboard up in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood, bringing our common-sense message to commuters every day.
► You helped us expand our public awareness campaigns to other states, online and in-person.
► You helped us travel to Washington, DC where we educated out-of-state advocates about the methods we’ve used to successfully reduce gun violence in Massachusetts.
► You brought the healing power of music to 45 U.S. states and territories, and 10 new countries with the Concert Across America to End Gun Violence.

None of this would have been possible without your donations. Which brings us to today: Giving Tuesday. We hope you will consider donating to Stop Handgun Violence (again, or for the first time) in honor of this special day. Everyone can make a difference–even $20 goes a long way to help us continue to grow. We need you. America needs you. You can donate by clicking here or shopping in our store.

Have a safe and happy holiday season.

Sincerely,

The Stop Handgun Violence Team
