FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Boston – Stop Handgun Violence (SHV), a Massachusetts based non-profit organization committed to preventing gun violence, today endorsed a Ten-Point Plan adopted by the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus in response to the killings of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd.
“Stop Handgun Violence stands in support of the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus’ ten-point plan, which includes actions at the Federal, State and Local level to stem police brutality, systemic racism and other forms of injustice,” said John Rosenthal, founder and chair of Stop Handgun Violence. “Black lives matter and we must change policy at all levels to make sure that justice and truth are embedded in the core of our society and its institutions.
“Working in social justice and gun violence prevention for the past 40 years, I have seen first-hand what data has proven: that injustice, gun violence and police violence disproportionately affects communities of color. We believe that holding law enforcement and other institutions accountable will provide a more just and safer future for all Americans.”
