Stop Handgun Violence joins Representative Linsky and gun violence survivor Greg Gibson at State House to show documentary short and highlight legislative priorities this session

Boston, MA–Stop Handgun Violence will join Representative Linsky and state legislators to view a documentary short by survivor, Greg Gibson and hold a discussion on legislative priorities of local gun violence prevention advocates. The documentary features Greg Gibson sitting down with the killer of his son to discuss the gaps in federal policy that allowed the killer to get a gun during a mental health crisis.

“I didn’t want to make this video. The event that caused it was 100% preventable and never should have happened,” said Greg Gibson. “I do want you to watch it, though, and I hope that after seeing it you’ll join me in making sure that no more families have to endure what my family endured.”

“As soon as I watched this video, I knew it was important for my colleagues in the legislature to see,” said Representative David P. Linsky (D-Natick). “I have worked with Greg for years advocating for and supporting bills that will make our Commonwealth safer, and I thank him for sharing his story with all of us.”

“We are honored to be included in this event with Greg Gibson and Representative Linsky, two tireless advocates for gun violence prevention in Massachusetts” said John Rosenthal founder of Stop Handgun Violence. “Although Massachusetts has some of the best gun laws in the country, there is still more we can do. We are proud of our legislators for making gun violence prevention a part of their agenda again this year.”
